Quinte West Geocaching - Getting the kids involved

Outdoor physical activity is important in youth today. It’s something that is being traded for gaming, movies, and the internet. The Quinte Geocaching Adventure Challenge (QGAC) committee wants to get kids and family outside for some fun and activities. Quinte West has great outdoor recreation activities – with interest in Geocaching on the rise.

As a part of the plan to introduce Quinte West families to Geocaching, you will find Kristina and a committee member or volunteer at the Batawa Summer Camps and Batawa Breakfasts. The kids/families will be introduced to Geocacing and GPS units and will have a chance to find some temporary caches set up by the committee.

Kristina will give a brief tutorial to the children at the Batawa Summer Camps. The camp leaders and committee member(s) will assist the kids with the input of GPS Coordinates in the GPS Unit. The kids will race to find all six caches. Prizes for everyone!

The Batawa Ski Hill is hosting Sunday Breakfasts at the Hill. Kristina and a volunteer will set up a booth at three or four breakfasts and have the families or kids spend some time finding the same caches as those for the summer camp.

If you would like more information on the dates these activities will take place, please contact Kristina Walt at the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce at 613-392-7635 or by email at kristinawalt@gmail.com.
